evelyn loves technology just like every other kid her age. and more scoot-scoot rides.

 sunday morning [that's what 2 hours of sleep looks like folks] and sunday evening [at a friends house]

jank's siestas are all about eating, snuggling and napping. and stickers, pepsi and licorice are staples in our house. 

 those two kids are trooooouble and evie had a rough day- just look at those swollen, tired eyes. 

 splash pads for the win.

 ugh, every morning around 4am i hit my wall. no amount of sugar or jumping jacks can cure it. and late night swims are the best.

 see? i eat healthy stuff. [sometimes] and that kid is just about the best. i really love her personality. 

 teaching evie to walk involves a leeeeetle bit of shoving and stumbling and book dedications- i think they're the sweetest and i always read them. 

 more fun at the library [one of the best ways to beat the heat] and a made bed makes my heart sing

 new pics for the gallery wall and evie stood unassisted for a few seconds. progress!

 just chilling on the back patio, enjoying some grapes apres swim and yet another simple but wonderful backyard picnic. 

 evelyn rue, there hasn't been a stranger yet that's gotten her to smile and our new desk- a craigslist treasure for only $10.

 tea parties while evie naps and my obsession with baskets continues [where else would one hide all the kid paraphernalia??]

 had the back patio all to ourselves [that's what happens when it's 90 degrees at 7pm] and playing peek-a-boo with her curtains after sleeping in until 9am!

 kate 'helping' keep evie occupied, wrestling on her bed is probably not the best idea but thanks miss kate. and this is the evie we all know and love. promise she's not always a surly beast.

 babies in baskets never gets old and kate loved her dance class and the ice cream afterwards. 

 ahoy! kate is obsessed with pirates, evie is obsessed with kate. and kate's dance class is at the yuma art center which means great lighting and plenty of space for evie to crawl around. 

 more swimming. what else is there to do besides sweat our faces off??

evelyn rue: loves sweets and chocolate and cards. the opposite of kate and my mini-me in most ways [she even bounces like i do when the food is especially good]. and miss kate waiting for dance class to start.

 date night! oh man do i love date night. dinner and a movie- our favorite. [we looove the movies and get quite irritated if we miss the previews. just FYI] and one day i woke up to find a dozen gourmet cupcakes on my counter. that was a good day. 

 love that my kiddos can play outside but i hate how dusty yuma is- they get so dirty! and evie's favorite game to play is 'pull the blankies down'.

 beauty in the simple things. and eating outdoors- my absolute favorite way to dine [even if it's just a smoothie. there is something magical about fresh air and watching the world go by]

 post-night-shift days are clothing optional for the kids and pajamas for me. and kate has become obsessed with bodily functions- if you want her to laugh just say 'toot' and she'll giggle for a looong time.  

 kate and evie love to bounce around and play in evie's crib [and i love that they're contained to one spot]. and evie's new favorite thing is to cover her eyes with her little hands and fake cry when things don't go her way. it's quite effective [especially on her daddy who is a self-proclaimed pushover]. 

 nighttime walks are the best- light breeze, warm air, quiet neighborhood and some music playing from my phone. just wonderful. and our ward had a summer party, complete with delicious BBQ and bounce-houses for the kids. [kate was in heaven]

 we hung up our new flag just in the nick of time on memorial day- there's something powerful about seeing that american flag waving in the breeze. and evie decides to finally eat something other than yogurt- hurray!!

 evie is 16 months and still not walking [or standing on her own]. in an effort to get her moving we bought her this walker. hopefully it'll be the motivation she needs [lazy kid!] and kate has been full of interesting questions lately. one day she was asking about death and heaven and although it made me sad that she was worrying about such things, i was so grateful i had the answers for her. 

that angel face is my favorite. i cannot get enough of her and her squishy body... and some more fake crying :) despite how it looks, evie is actually doing much better. she was fussy for about 3 months while she was cutting teeth but lately she's been pretty great. [now i've jinxed us and she'll be teething again for the next 3 months]

 mcdonalds picnic at the park.

 afternoons consist of swimming and picnics. it's a rough life we lead.

 yuma's public library is pretty awesome. the kids play area keeps them entertained for quite awhile and when that ceases to amaze them, there is always the outdoor reading area full of trees, flowers and magic [i mean really, just look at that place- it's heavenly!]

 krew and kate fight and love like brother and sister- so glad they have each other. and evelyn is super proficient at mess-making much to my dismay. 

 one day when evie was exceptionally fussy and kate was restless, i loaded the kids into the car and we went on a hunt for bridges. sounds kinda dumb but it kept kate entertained and i got to see parts of yuma i had never seen before. i used to think yuma was ugly, but it is really growing on me lately. 

 kate and evie had their well-child checkups. they both had to have immunizations which in my book requires a good carb overload [i can never turn down a croissant]. and evie loves being read to. she'll grab a book and climb into my lap and push the book into my hands- love it. 

 we went hiking with the saunders somewhere out in the middle of the desert. i was surprised how well the kids did. 

 kate was a little jealous that evie got to be carried the entire way :)

 my favorite picture in the entire house [and it's hanging behind the toilet. odd choice, i know]. and evie found kate's stash of princesses- look at that guilty face!

 kate has learned to fully appreciate cake batter and cookie dough. i couldn't be more proud. and this is what life looks like after i work a shift- lots of ipad movies in my bed. 

out to breakfast just me and my girls. we were oh-so-fancy and went to cracker barrel. and this is my favorite picture to date of miss evelyn. her expression is perfection.

 swim diapers are overrated.

 open mouth kisses are this kids specialty. and some seriously healthy snacks while researching our next car. 

 winterhaven, california is full of beautiful fields, a perfect place for an afternoon drive. and evie being a goon.

 evie attempts to contain her enthusiasm for the park swings. and she is finally walking around furniture- although she still won't let go and stand on her own. 

 new swimsuits are a must when you swim everyday. thank heavens for the finding great deals- $4 each!

 family night consisted of board games inside the teepee- everything is more magical with fairy lights. and i'm in love with my new stainless steel measuring cups- thanks mr red!

 good morning evelyn rue. and a quiet moment with kate- that kid loves to color. 

 happy birthday to my big, little girl!! 4 years old already. geez, where did the time go??

 we took kate to waylan's water park for her birthday and had such a great time. 

 the whole family [post-swimming and exhausted]. and a little birthday cake for my favorite blondie. 

a snack inspired by my mother- brownies, chocolate pudding and oreo cookies. oh my. and evie being a rockstar as usual.
