don't be jealous of my glamorous life

jordan landing shopping center,

yesterday it was 90 degrees.
rain fell at random times but never lasting for more than 5 minutes.
and the wind was blowing hard enough to knock down my 24 pound child.

all this lead me in desperation to you.
lizamagoos, katers and i stopped by chick-fil-a, pet-smart and walmart.
[told ya my life is glamorous]

pet-smart was definitely the highlight.
sloooooowly kate is getting over her fear of dogs.
slowly.
it only took her 5 minutes to realize the dogs couldn't get through the glass.
and then it was a free-for-all of toddlers running into the glass and dogs barking.
good times.

ps. dear kate, you don't always have to be so worried when we visit a new play-land. you should try playing instead of standing in one spot and watching the other kids play. i bet it would be a lot more fun for you. [but still, i love your scaredy-cat ways]

surviving the rain

liz:

we love when you come to play.
especially when it's rainy outside [which it has been for the past 5 billion years]
the day is full of excitement and toddler squabbles.
we invariably will make a pillow pile to jump into.
this activity lasts for a loooong time- it's a crowd pleaser for sure.

that belt has become a favorite. if kate's not wearing it, her stuffed rabbit is.

and when i've finally worn you two out,
we will snuggle with treats [twizzlers this time] and watch a movie.

lizamagoos, we love you!

ps, bb-- this is only a small [very small, tiny even] part of the day. the rest of it we spent eating fruits and vegetables and practicing letters, numbers and colors all while listening to classical music...... are you buying any of this???

liz comes to play

dear camera battery,

thanks for lasting long enough for me to get a couple of pictures today.

please excuse their crazy hair- there was a storm rolling in.
kater's mullet was just a-blowing in the breeze.
it was awesome.

you did well today little point and shoot.
i might be the crazy mom at the park with the camera in my kid's face,
but at least i'll have pictures to torture her with when she's older.
mwahaha

you died right after i snagged this shot.
it's my new favorite pic of them.
i couldn't resist loading it into instagram and zhuzhing it up a little:

i know they look miserable but i promise they loved it- they kept asking for 'mo! mo!'

ps. kate finally built up enough guts to go down the [little] slide.... at least until next time when she'll go through the whole debate again: slide and risk life? or just sit and watch everyone else play?

hello spring!

dearest most loveliest miss spring:

this scene makes it almost impossible to think about moving in august

i feel that it is time to officially welcome you into our lives again.
you have been thoroughly missed this past year.
i would like to welcome you back with an open-mouthed kiss.
SMOOCH!

yesterday i took miss kate and miss e on a walk to celebrate the return of spring to utah.
the walk took an hour but we only went a few blocks.
every tree was touched.
every fence was hugged [i don't understand this one]
every electrical cover was drummed on.
and every flower was inspected.
walking with toddlers is awesome.

the sunshine and warm temps are slowly drawing me out of the funk i've been in this week.
this morning katers and i wandered around the outdoor mall in slc.
she watched the kids playing in the fountain while i let the sun warm my face.
the change in me was tangible.
i could feel the sun infuse me with patience and love-
those golden rays pushed out the oppressing feelings of frustration and discontent i've been harboring.
and man oh man, that felt good.

and then katers and i read books in b&n.
she cried when we had to leave.
she is my daughter through and through.
how i love her.

thanks miss spring for being so beautiful and for showing up in my time of need.
mr jancer thanks you profusely.

xoxo,
k

ps. a note about mr jancer- he deserves an award for putting up with me this last week. if not an award, then definitely a bacon double cheeseburger. maybe in between conference sessions??

library voice... yeah right.

Liz-

liz browsing for her favs- no idea why she has a bald spot...
must be the awesome fluorescent lighting

i think this is the only pic i have of you today in which you aren't a blur.
i thought taking you and katers to the library would be fun....
i obviously should have taken into consideration that you are my daughter's polar opposite.
while kate will sit and read books while i pick out new books for her,
you were investigating all the dvd's [pulling them off the shelf] and finding your favorites-
you found mulan and didn't put it down once without a fight.
you are such a curious child and full of energy and you're too smart for your own good.
i have no idea how your mommie keeps you entertained all day long!

you kept wandering off and i kept steering you back to the kiddie section.
at one point kate was standing on a chair, holding one finger up and counting 'one...ta...tree'
you didn't respond to her warnings and she looked at me with the most bewildered expression.
i was shaking with laughter at that point instead of parenting like i should of been.

oh, lizamagoos, how i love you and your non-stop action.
you make me laugh.
i can't wait to see how you react to your little brother-
only a few weeks to go!!

see you next week.

missing my magoos

lizamagoos-

we're going to miss you today.
sorry we are all sick and you can't come play.
we would've colored pictures and watched the fox and the hound.
and of course kate would've smacked you when you stole the baby from her.
[maybe that part you won't miss?]

right now katers is sitting on my lap screeching 'EEEEEEEEEEE!!'
and now she's blowing you kisses and trying to hug the computer screen.
she misses her cousin.

see you soon-
after we're all done being croupy.

love you little one!

snuggle sleep

elizabeth claire-

just wanted to say thank you for coming to play today and for wearing kate out.

jank's perfect evening: pizza, snuggling, bball and no clinic tomorrow-
woot, woot!

it's actually your uncle who needs to say thank you-
he's the one who got to snuggle with katers.
and as you know, kate is not a snuggler.,
so he's milking this moment for all it's worth.

you're the best.

love you!

they destroy AND clean.

Nana:

Just wanted you to see what you're missing.....
maybe it'll prompt you to purchase some plane tickets and get
you nana bum out here!

liz might be TERRIFIED of the real vacuum but she looooves they one that sings
and the songs aren't annoying at all. nope, NOT AT ALL.

the obsession with kater's curl continues...
and yes, that is a doorstop that she is using to "comb" kate's hair.

i'm such a great auntie
check out how happy liz is to be seeing her "melmo"

HI NANA! WE LOVE YOU!!

please quit eating the wood chips!

mothers of multiples:

don't know how you do it.
today (like every thursday) i had two toddlers.
getting them both up three flights of stairs, fed and entertained is work.
today we went on a walk, or in liz's case- a prance.
we walked to the central mailbox for the apartments.
we passed two dogs who were thoroughly barked at by the girls.
on the way back we stopped at the playground where a kid spit on me...
(long story short- i yelled at him, called him disgusting and he left to play in the mud)
the girls loved the slides and the wood chips.
maybe the wood chips more than the slides.

i couldn't believe the work it took to keep them both safe.
liz is a monkey and climbs on EVERYTHING.
kate is a wanderer and follows random kids around.
i think i said, "get down. come back here" twenty times.
and during the outing all i could think is 'this is tiring!'
but it was worth it to see the joy on their faces when they had a turn on the slide.

major props to you, mothers of multiples.
i don't know how you keep everything organized.
pretty sure my kids would be eating out of a trough and wearing nothing but diapers.
